DENGUE IgG,IgM-Rapid
Reports within 24 hours.
Special Instructions : A dengue IgG/IgM test?detects antibodies to the dengue virus in a blood sample to help determine if someone has a dengue infection. IgM antibodies
A positive IgM test indicates a recent infection, as IgM antibodies are detectable 3?7 days after infection. However, IgM tests can also be positive if someone has been infected with a similar virus, like chikungunya.
IgG antibodies
A positive IgG test indicates a previous infection, as IgG antibodies develop 2?4 weeks after a primary infection. However, IgG testing is not recommended for diagnosing acute dengue infections.
Negative tests
A negative test may mean that the person doesn't have dengue, or that the antibody levels are too low to measure.
Here are some other things to know about dengue IgG/IgM tests:
A second test, called the Plaque Reduction Neutralization Test (PRNT), can confirm the presence of dengue antibodies and rule out other viral infections.
The test results may be difficult to interpret due to cross-reactivity with other flaviviruses.
The Bioline Dengue IgG/IgM test can differentiate primary and secondary dengue infections.
