LFTs are performed by drawing a blood sample from a vein in the arm using a small needle. The test doesn't require fasting, so you can eat and drink as usual before the test.
A doctor may recommend an LFT if you have symptoms of liver disease, damage, or failure. LFTs are also beneficial for people who are at risk for liver disease, such as those with a history of heavy alcohol use, viral hepatitis, or certain genetic conditions.
